About us

A small school with a big heart

Ninety-five years of curious, kind and brave children — and a house on Satchel Lane that still feels like home.

From the Head

A school where childhood is given room to grow.

Since 1931 we’ve believed that children learn best when they feel safe, known and a little bit adventurous. Our job is to keep them curious — and to send them on at eleven confident, kind and ready for anything.

Children here are given time — time to play, to wonder, to get things wrong and try again. Our teachers know every child by name and by nature, and we work closely with parents so that home and school pull in the same direction. Do come and see us. The best way to understand Satchel Hill is to spend a morning here.

Mrs Eleanor Marsh

Head

We want every child to leave Satchel Hill knowing what they love, how to work hard at it, and how to be kind along the way.
